BLEND 2018
48% MALBEC - 40% CABERNET FRANC - 12% SYRAH VINTAGE CHARACTERISTICS After two harvests with diminished grape yields that limited the production of this blend, the year 2018 presented the weather conditions typical of our region, which led to a recovery in production levels. The season has been warmer than the expected average. Both minimum and maximum average temperatures have exceeded historical records. Frost was not a major inconvenience for our vineyards, with just one episode causing minimal damage in September. During the harvest, February saw the highest precipitation; however, it was lower than the historical average. Hailstorms decreased and did not pose a problem either. The high temperatures of the 2018 summer, combined with moderate temperatures during the harvest period, resulted in optimal fruit balance with outstanding natural acidity. VINEYARD LOCATION Valle de Uco. Mendoza, Argentina. Elevation: 1,100 masl (3,600 fasl) HARVESTINGGrapes are harvested manually into small, 12-kg plastic bins. In pursuit of excellent grape quality, we conduct a double selection of clusters and berries. SOIL Sandy loam of alluvial origin, with gravel in the subsoil and calcareous sediments. WINEMAKING Cold maceration at 8 °C for 10 to 15 days for the three varietals, followed by alcoholic fermentation (co-fermentation) in 225-liter French oak barrels, according to the principles of microvinification. We use 5% whole clusters during fermentation to enhance the wines freshness. Barrel rotation and manual pigeage are performed throughout the process. TASTING NOTES In this blend, we have successfully captured the power of this vintage and the typicity of these three varieties coming together in a unique wine that showcases the character of Malbec, the fresh notes of Cabernet Franc, and the spiciness of Syrah. In the glass, the wine displays garnet tones and the characteristic intensity of our wines. On the nose, a fruity and spicy profile stands out, along with subtle oak notes and aromas typical of extended aging. It is worth noting that 2018 ranks among the exceptional vintages in our history, featuring good structure in the mid-palate, round tannins, and elegance. Over time, we are certain that it will continue to evolve favorably. AGEING 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels (40% first fill, 60% used).
